Is the Personal licence really a one-time payment?
Yes - €29, once, forever. You own the licence for the version you buy and all future v1.x updates. There is no subscription, no annual renewal, and no expiry. If we ever make a v2.0 with breaking changes we'll offer existing Personal users a discounted upgrade path.
What counts as a "device"?
A device is any Windows computer where you install and activate EverKeeping. Personal licences allow up to 3 simultaneous activations. PRO licences have no device limit. Device management is handled through your Paddle account dashboard - you can deactivate an old machine and activate a new one at any time.
What's the difference between Mirror and Incremental backup?
Mirror keeps a perfect, browsable copy of your source folder at the destination. If you delete a file from the source, it gets deleted from the destination on the next run - it's a live replica. Incremental backup creates timestamped snapshot folders at the destination, preserving every version of every file. With Incremental you can restore any file as it was at any point in time.
Can EverKeeping back up to the cloud?
EverKeeping backs up to any folder you can access in Windows Explorer - including folders synced by Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or any other cloud sync client. You don't need a separate subscription for the cloud service if you already have one. EverKeeping doesn't provide cloud storage directly - it works with destinations you already control.
What is the refund policy?
Both Personal licences and the first PRO charge carry a 14-day refund window if the software does not function as described on this website or in the documentation. Contact hello@everkeeping.com with your Paddle order number within 14 days of purchase. PRO renewals are non-refundable. See our full refund policy for details.
Where is my data stored?
EverKeeping runs entirely on your computer. Your source files, backup data, and destination files stay on your drives - we never see them. The only data we hold externally is your email address if you enable notifications, and your licence status via Paddle. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I upgrade from Free to Personal later?
Yes, at any time. Your workspaces, settings, and backup history are fully preserved when you upgrade - the licence key simply unlocks the additional features. No reinstall required.
Can I upgrade from Personal to PRO?

Yes - and you get a prorated credit based on how long you've had Personal.

The logic: PRO costs €12/year (€1/month). We subtract the PRO-equivalent cost of the time you already used Personal from your €29 purchase price. Whatever's left is your credit, up to a maximum of one full year of PRO.
